Hi there,
My name is Tarja (Vandergoot) and I’m a Spiritual seeker and self-taught artist from The Netherlands. I specialize in realism and mixed media art.
I make mixed media portraits of (iconic) women embodying power, beauty, and vulnerability, with a touch of mysticism. I want to capture these beautiful aspects by eternalizing them in ‘the moment’ and conserving them, just like a beautiful fresh flower dipped in resin, to be preserved and admired forever.
How it’s made
My artworks are a blend of manual drawing, painting, crafting, and digital techniques. I typically begin with a portrait, using graphite pencils. Then, I get creative with paint, collage, stencils, and more, responding to what the artwork demands. Once I finalize the portrait and the abstract elements, I merge them digitally, refining the colors, shapes, and details to bring the artwork to life. I then have the piece either printed behind plexiglass or on Dibond. In the latter I continue to add more personal touches, finishing it off with layers of epoxy coating. This process creates an illusion of depth and transforms the artwork into an eye-catching centerpiece, perfect for adding character to any space.
